1. What was the most unique wedding you’ve ever planned?
I would have to say my wedding in Dubai. I went all the way there, planned everything, but never actually met my bride. Her uncle was my main contact for the wedding planning.
2. What’s your secret for staying calm under pressure, and how do you deal with day-of disasters?
Many years of experience have helped me to foresee potential problems before they happen. In addition I have a great staff that I have been with for years that always looks out for me.
3. What’s the biggest wedding mishap you’ve ever encountered and how did you deal with it?
One time I got a wedding crasher – that’s why I’m always with my book and every wedding has a seating chart!
It was a May wedding on the lawn. A gentlemen came up to me and said, “I can’t find my card.” So I pulled out my list by alphabetical order and Mr. Smith was at Table 3, but he said there weren’t enough seats. So then I got my list by table number, went with my book to Table 3 and it was supposed to have 10 people and 10 chairs. Well, a lady starts tugging on my blouse and she says, “I’m not supposed to be here,” and so I say come with me. As I’m taking her out, she confessed to being my groom’s father’s mistress! The groom’s father is sitting at the table with his wife, children and grandchildren! No one found out; not even the father. That’s why I’m so organized with my list, it saves an ugly situation from happening.
4. What’s the most important aspect when planning a wedding?
The most important aspects of planning a wedding are organization and having a personal connection with the bride.
5. What do you want every bride to know during this process?
That each bride is special. That we are completely here for them. And that we are their Tylenol to their headache.
6. What is your favorite part of the wedding ceremony?
When it’s over – just kidding! When my groom sees my bride for the first time walking down the aisle.
7. What is your favorite part of the wedding reception?
The grand reveal – that’s private for my bride and my groom.
8. What do you look forward to most on the wedding day?
Definitely giving the bride her bouquet and the grand ballroom reveal for my bride and groom. These are intimate moments that make the couple and myself feel so special.
9. How do you choose wedding colors/theme?
Everything is based on the bride and groom’s personal style. Their likes and dislikes are very important. I am there for guidance and for any suggestions I think would make their dream day come true.
10. Developing a timeline – what does a typical wedding timeline look like?
The timeline is an extremely detailed, hour-by-hour itinerary of the day before the wedding and the day of the wedding. This way everyone that is involved in the event knows exactly what we are doing and when so that the day can commence flawlessly.
11. How can a bride and groom avoid stress on the days before/the day of the wedding?
I tell them to relax and enjoy these moments because they truly do fly by and (one day) they will want to remember this. I also tell them that I have everything under control and that they can count on me so they are stress free!
