Hyatt Grand Cypress Sikh Wedding
Lindsay + Sanjit
It was a long time of waiting for this newlywed’s dream wedding to be a reality. Three years to be exact! Due to a strict lockdown from Covid-19, their wedding was on hold. At last, they were able to travel from their home in Canada to Florida to marry in front of family and friends. Lindsay and Sanjit finally got the wedding of their dreams, and it was well worth the wait! I’m so excited to share their Hyatt Grand Cypress Sikh Wedding with all of you!
Sikh Wedding Traditions
Given that Sanjit is Sikh, the couple had a Sikh wedding. A beautiful three days filled with love and laughter for these romantics. Cricket’s Photography captured every detail and took some amazing portraits. The couple’s hands and feet were beautifully decorated with henna, which is referred to as the tradition Mehndi, on the first day of their three-day-long event. The family then showered the couple with gifts, and the groom’s mother covered the bride’s head with a red chunni. Afterward, all the women stayed and shared stories and songs with the bride.
Sikh Marriage Ceremony
On the second day, the bride and groom got ready and met each other at their Sikh marriage ceremony called Anand Karaj. The bride was as lovely as can be, in a gold gown with fabulous subtle jewels neatly placed on the fabric. The groom was handsome in his cream-colored outfit with a subtle gold outline and his Kirpan/Sword. At the temple, guests sat on the floor, and the woman and heads of men were covered, as you do in Sikh Temples. The couple had their ceremony and after they enjoyed breakfast with their guests, as tradition goes.
A White Wedding
The third and final day was the “white wedding”. Where the bride wore her white wedding dress, and they had a ceremony. Lindsay wore a beautiful white strapless dress with the top covered in jewel embellishments. She had her hair and makeup flawlessly done by A Touch of Fierce. Pink floral arrangements lined the aisle leading to four alter arrangements. As a symbol of their love and commitment, they chose to do a sand ceremony. After saying their handwritten vows, they were pronounced husband and wife.
The Grand Reveal
After the couple went and took stunning landscape portraits with Cricket’s Photography, the couple came in for their Grand Reveal. My all-time favorite and most rewarding time, seeing my couple swoon over their wedding decorations that so gorgeously came together for their big day. For Lindsay and Sanjit that look was elegant with dashes of color.
The Reception
When the guests all arrived in the reception room and the newlyweds were announced, they followed all the wedding traditions such as enjoying a meal, speeches, cake cutting, and first dances. After that, the couple and their wedding guests were able to take over the dance floor and dance the night away. Outside and in, the reception was full of celebration and life. We are so glad this couple got to have a night they will never forget during their Hyatt Grand Cypress Sikh Wedding. Congratulations yet again to Lindsay and Sanjit.
